Porters are fat and happy after another successful holiday season

Emma, Sophie, and Julia DS-ing. We didn't hear from them all night.

The last few weeks have been wonderful. First, I was honored (or should I be offended?) to win my first Schlocky Award* for my hideous, unfinished, and definitely not-appropriate-for-children crocheted mermaid doll (which itself became the 2nd place travelling Schlocky trophy).

I was bummed that I missed the Winter Solstice ceremony due to a snowstorm (I guess I'm a fair-weather Pagan), but Christmas was just around the corner and was filled with love, happiness, festivities, days off,  and calories.

For gifts this Christmas, it was all about the Wii: Nanny and Poppa got us a Wii, and Santa got wind of that and followed up with the Fit board and Guitar Hero. I know exactly where to find Travis and Julia when I need either of them. Stock should be purchased in the company that makes Littlest Pet Shop items, which made a strong showing under the tree. I am very happy with my new funky brown boots and cookbooks (don't worry, I asked for those).

We had a lovely dinner with my parents and brother's family—yay ham!--and Grandma and Grandpa capped a great day by giving Julia the Apples to Apples game, which Julia really wanted and thought she wouldn't get. We have an overall appreciation of the fact that we don't have to travel anywhere this holiday because of all the storms blowing in and freeway closures.

Happy New Year!!!!

*Schlocky Award Party (trademark Jim and Genevra): a holiday party amongst a group of Boise friends who bring their worst creative work of the year to be judged, well, as the worst. While originally started for graphic design work, any creative endeavor can be entered (like really bad crochet projects and front-page Idaho Statesman photos with captions that incorrectly identify the genders of already miserable teenagers—first and second place Schlockys this year, respectively).
