The Porters Finish Painting Their House!
It started in late April, with the first frightening removal of the house numbers...
Travis and Michele did all the prep work, including large amounts of scraping loose paint, killing mildew, repairing stucco, and priming all through May.
Then Memorial Day weekend Nanny, Poppa, and Grandpa helped us paint the main body of the house (and, ahem, coats of the first trim and door colors).
June and half of July saw three different colors of doors (don't ask), a trim color change (darker), two different front step colors (one for each of the trim colors), and all the maddening final touches.
Behold...light and dark sage greens, black, and salmon!

- Lovely color scheme thoughtfully inspired by a western wildflower (the Globe Mallow)? Check!
- House color description that no longer requires the word "putty", nor ends with the phrase "You know, like an old computer?" Check!
- New gutter and really cool rain barrel (a Grandpa original design) which collects all the runoff from the house and garage into one large 55 gallon barrel, complete with spigot and overflow tube? Check!
- Bold choice to simply spray the green canvas awning with $15 worth of black outdoor spray paint instead of buying a new expensive awning? Check!
- Happy neighbors who undoubtedly were wondering if we'd ever make up our minds? Check!
- Awesome family who are willing to help us out? Check!
- Marriage intact? Check!

Notice in photo section. Painting flower box. Deadbeat Uncle Jeff was as usual supervising and drinking beer.
